About Me
My name is Kerry Morris and I am a Professional Triathlete aspiring to reach my full potential and have a lot of fun on the way! I got into triathlons 3 years ago when I was working fly in fly out on Barrow Island off the NW coast of Australia. In May 2017 I qualified for my professional licence at Geelong IM 70.3 and in my second race as a professional I finished on the podium in 3rd at Busselton 70.3 (fastest bike time)!
I was a swimmer as a kid and raced at a National level, giving it up to focus on High School at the age of 16 and then took that focus and dedication to University’s extra curricula activities. Once my liver had had enough of that I took up surfing and caught the bug big time! I signed up for my first half Ironman triathlon for fun in 2014 and the rest is history!

BIO
Originally from New South Wales, I grew up in Coogee a suburb of Sydney and my first love soon became surfing. I studied Civil Engineering at the University of New South Wales and it was my Dad told me the engineering field was a tough industry with a work hard, play hard mentality - so naturally that's exactly what I did as I never shying away from a challenge or hard work - I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the industry but have found a new love/passion and that is to find what I am capable of and able to achieve in the sport of triathlons, where hard work is the only path to greatness.

How did you get into triathlons?
Working on Barrow Island and not being able to surf meant I had to get creative. A few guys I was working with were getting up crazy early and training for triathlons as well as working 12 hr days, I love nothing more than a challenge so the rest is history!
What do you enjoy most about Triathlons?
The people, I have met so many awesome people in this sport and am meeting more great people every day! I also love pushing myself and getting good results from hard work.
What accomplishment are you most proud of so far?
Placing 3rd Professional at Busselton IM 70.3 (fastest bike split) in my second race as a Professional.
What are your favorite race distances and why?
I am enjoying racing the shorter distances (Sprint and Olympic) and the Half Ironmans as I enjoy racing fast!
Do you have a favorite discipline?
I’d have to say the bike is probably my favorite discipline as I love going fast and travelling such long distances with just your heart as a motor.
What is your favorite workout and place to train?
Fav session would have to be bike intervals and I love/hate training in the hills.
What is your favorite Quote?
I love inspirational quotes and use them regularly as a motivational tool, my top 2 would be ‘If your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough’ and ‘Every morning you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.’
Who or what is your main inspiration when it comes to triathlons?
I look up to athletes like Daniela Ryf and Flora Duffy, I think everyone in my squad is sick of hearing me harp on about them! They are just amazing all round athlete who have changed the face of triathlon!
