The Start of a New Era

Over the past 3 years of working FIFO I have been able to justify my sacrifices with holidays to Bali, Japan, Malaysia (damn banana boats), New Zealand, Kalbarri just to name a few. Though these holidays have been great distractions there has been a burning desire for something more.

If there is one thing that I know about myself it is that I never like to do anything in half measures, sometimes intentional and other times very unfortunate eg. Broken collarbone requiring a plate and 8 bolts. Over the last 18 months since I caught the triathlon bug (see video below of first triathlon) I have not been able to give 100%, limited by 12 hr days and a 3 and 1 roster my training and recovery time has been a lot less than optimum. This is finally about to change! I will now be working full time in Perth, allowing me to train with the club and have the weekends to squeeze in those extra miles and nana naps.

Barrow Island Nana Nap (couldnt even manage to get my bag off)

Excited doesn’t even start to describe how I am feel at the moment, I apologise to my squad in advance for harping on about how beautiful and amazing everything is, these are typical symptoms of Barrowitis. Although there are a lot of people from Barrow Island I will miss, I will still be working on the project and consider you all friends not just work colleges so I am sure we will stay in contact.

I will be racing Cairns 70.3 in two weeks as a lead up race for the World Champs and although I am far from racing fit, as I thought I wouldn’t be able to race due to muscle damage from the accident, I am so so pumped to race my 4th Half Ironman and gain some racing experience.

I would just like to quickly thanks to Luke and my parents (my first sponsors), Mary and Vince, the support you guys have given me over the past 18 month has been over and above anything I would have expected and has significantly contributed my racing results! Your encouragement and belief in me has meant the world!

Was looking through old pics and videos and found this gem (click here). It was recorded at the end of my first tri in Left Bank, I had absolutlely no idea what was going on but I was the first female overall!
